Alternative for Germany (German: Alternative für Deutschland, AfD) is a far-right political party in Germany. Founded in 2013 as a resistance movement to Angela Merkel and mainstream policies, it has seen a sharp rise in popularity. As of 2025, it is the second-largest party in the country and is the largest opposition party in the 21st Bundestag.
The party's popularity is most dominant in the territory of the former 
Communist East Germany.
Personality
Alternative for Germany is right-wing and national-conservative in both socioeconomic and sociocultural terms. He seeks the betterment of his country and to break away from "weights taking Germany down" (i.e. the 
United States and the File:EU-icon.png European Union). He is often chastised by parties both inside and outside of Germany as a "typical right-wing party" and a "wannabe Nazi"; but Alternative for Germany disagrees, and calls them woke and establishment suckers.
He can be viewed as partially bi-polar, with segments of party leaning more conservative and some being out-right File:Nazi-icon.png Nazi sympathizers.
