Jacobitism is the ideology of Supporters James II and his descendants.
History
Glorious Revolution
James II was a Catholic, which proved unpopular. In 1688 William of Orange landed in Torbay. After some fighting James II was deposed, and attempted to regain his throne. Jacobitism went into a slight decline.
Hanoverians
When the house of Hanover came Jacobitism made a comeback with many seeing it as going too far. After the 1745 rising Jacobitism went into decline again.
Neo Jacobitism
Towards the end of the 1800s and the start of the 1900s Jacobitism had a revival. The movement ended after WWI when the Jacobite heir fought with Germany against Britain.
Modern Day
There are very few modern day Jacobites and not many people have heard the term. Many (erroneously) conflate Jacobitism with Scottish Nationalism.
Personality
National Variants
- Scottish: One of the most common ways to present Jacobitism is as an angry Scottish Bloke. He will often tell people to "feck off" will call people "feckers" and "buggars" and speaks either Scots or Scottish Gaelic.
- English: Portray him either as a High Anglican or a Roman Catholic, he talks a lot about "divine right".
- Welsh: Portray him as William Herbert, 1st Marquess of Powis and make him extremely loyal to James II
- Cornish: Portray this one as Sir Richard Vyvyan.
- Irish: Irish Jacobitism really hates Protestant Orangists.
Melville Henry Massue
If you want to portray the Jacobite thinker Melville Henry Massue give Jacobitismball Melville's glasses and moustaches and have him studying family trees and writing books.
How to Draw
Drawing the Catholic Theologyball is very difficult due to the Keys of Heaven being very detailed.
- Draw a circle and fill it with the colour blue.
- Draw a red circle inside.
- Draw a white rectangle
- Add the eyes.
- While you're basically done, you can add more character to it, such as giving it a Glengarry cap.
