hi this is the editing guide for the politiball wiki which i am NOT bothered enough to make formal

General Tips

The best way to learn MediaWiki's code is to look at what other pages do and repeat what they do. You can view the source code of pages by clicking the "edit source" button and not save any changes, which lets you learn how the code works. You also have your own sandbox at YourUsername/sandbox in the menu on the top right to experiment with the code without unintentionally ruining the page.

Please do not use visual editor, always use source editing.

If you use ChatGPT or any other AI tool to write your article, you WILL be muted.

infoboxes

each different type of page has a different infobox template

• Template:Party for parties
• Template:Value for values
• Template:Ideology for ideologies

to learn what goes in what places, just look at how other pages do it and copy it from them substituting information OR if i got around to it there should be a guide on each on what to put in each. if there's none in like a week after i type this spam ping me on the discord and vandalise my user page

main body of the article

writing should be formal and generally correct. should also be simple and sections should not be extremely bloated.

page structure

divide your pages into sections to make them stand out and be legible to read or else study link in above section

it typically should be

• overview
• history
• (occasionally) contemporary position
• personality
• how to draw
• relations
• categories and navboxes

DONT FORGET TO ADD THE CATEGORY AT THE END.

adding icons

add icons in front of all balls that have their own pages, countries, certain concepts and others. dont overdo it, dont underdo it. if you name a concept, it is best to try to find it in the List of Icons if you want to be sure it doesn't have an icon, or look it up in the search bar to see if other pages use an icon on it. since icon artists are the lowest denominator of artists there probably will be at some point an icon for your concept. if theres no icon but you feel there should be one, feel free to insert a link to an icon that doesn't exist and feel free to make such icons, just follow the art rules (page pending)

add a space between text and icon so it looks nice ^^

the relations section should be written in character of whatever the ball is

submitting your page

if you've made a brand new page and want to submit it feel free to. but if its low effort and absolutely dumb then dont submit it. develop it first, and if its developed enough then we will allow it but if you submit something like this its gonna get deleted lol
